And I said to the man who stood at the gate of the year: “Give me a light that I may tread safely into the unknown.”
And he replied:
“Go out into the darkness and put your hand into the Hand of God. That shall be to you better than light and safer than a known way.”
~God Knows (aka The Gate of the Year) by Minnie Louise Haskins
May I share my divine purpose for being? I am blessed to be on a higher mission of the heart, in which I experience the joy of being inspired by Spirit. I’m talking about entering a state of being that is eternal, and holy. It’s even beyond time and space.
A Course in Miracles says that only the spiritual world is real. We don’t see the world. What we see are our thoughts and perceptions projected onto the world. This is not seeing at all. It’s actually hallucinating and what we are seeing is illusion. Focusing on Spirit and surrendering limiting thoughts is what the Buddhists call mindfulness. It allows us to live in the present moment so that spirit can lead the way.
Have you heard the expression, “nature abhors a vacuum?” Well, my motto is, “nature abhors a lie.” What I mean is that our subconscious will always want to revert back to our true nature. That’s why polygraph tests work. Living a life of the ego is a lie; we put on a mask and a costume and parade around, pretending to be a character on the stage of life. We will ultimately want to express our authentic self, the truth behind the dream. By stepping back and allowing spirit to lead the way, we recognize and accept the source of our oneness.
When we are focused and actively listening to what God wants us to do, we no longer think about our little self or our limiting thoughts. Our wants and desires become elevated from the physical realm to a higher level, so that we become a channel for a divine plan.
In Catholicism, there is a talisman called the miraculous medal. It’s a pendant with Mother Mary, showering the world with her blessings, which appear as white light beaming from her palms. Eastern religions would call this reiki, a divine energy that is channeled through her and out of her hands to heal the world.
A spiritual action plan also inspires and guides us on how to serve humanity by being a channel for God’s Will. A Course in Miracles shows us how to access this divine state of being.
Lesson 71 in the Workbook:
ONLY GOD’S PLAN FOR SALVATION WILL WORK
- Where would you have me go?
- What would you have me do?
- What would you have me say, and to whom?
This exercise advises us how to ask God for guidance. It is about listening. It is about allowing God to lead the way. The emphasis is on taking our hands off the reins of our lives and giving them over to God.
Marianne Williamson shares this prayer with us:
Dear God,
Use me.
How can I best be of service?
How can my skillset, resources, and mindset be best put to use?
May what I do be of use to God.
This, to me, is the ultimate goal of life. So, join me, and let us take off our masks and throw away our ego projections, and practice the art of being Love!
